Next week, we are holding another one of our Facebook Live Q&A sessions.  For this event, the theme will be genetics in multiple sclerosis.  It will provide us an opportunity to discuss a number of key questions:

    • Which genes are involved in multiple sclerosis?
    • Can I pass MS on to my children?
    • What do these genes tell us about MS?
    • Could genetic therapy be an option for MS in the future?

As always, these Q&A events are a fantastic way for us to interact with our community.  As well as the points above, we love the chance to be able to chat directly with our followers and answer their questions in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

Recently, we have noticed a number of new followers engaging in these sessions, which is really pleasing for us.  We would love as many people as possible to participate, so we thought we would provide a quick refresher on how to get involved, how to help us spread the word and what the benefits are to participating.

HOW TO JOIN AN MSTRANSLATE FACEBOOK LIVE Q&A?

If you don’t already follow MStranslate on Facebook, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to the MStranslate Facebook page (www.facebook.com/MStranslate)
  1. Click ‘Like’.  This should automatically change the next button to ‘Following’ (if you click on ‘Following’, you should also see that you have ‘Notifications’ set to ‘On’).

Once you are following MStranslate on Facebook, you should be able to access the Q&A in one of two ways

  1. Once the broadcast goes live (the date and time will always be promoted in advance), you should receive a notification that tells you MStranslate has started a live video.  If you click on this, the video will appear and you can begin watching.
  1. If the notification doesn’t appear, go directly to the MStranslate Facebook page and scroll down.  The live video will appear as the most recent post and you will be able to watch it there.

HOW TO HELP US SPREAD THE WORD?

As we’ve already said, we want as many people as possible to participate in these events and you can help make that happen!  Before the event, make sure that you let people know it is happening.  This could be friends, family, members of a peer support group…anyone that has some sort of interest in multiple sclerosis.

You can also help get the word out by sharing posts, like the one that you would have seen for this event, on your own social media pages.  The more people that know, the more likely we are to have people join us!

Once you are watching the broadcast, your interactions with it will also help people in your network see that it has started.  So once we are live, it’s always useful to like and comment on the video.

WHY PARTICIPATE IN THE LIVE Q&A?

Firstly, it’s important to state that you are more than welcome to be a ‘silent’ viewer of these videos.  There is no pressure on followers to ask questions or leave comments, though they are greatly appreciated.  If you just want to watch and hear the information shared, that is completely fine.

However, if you have watched one of these Q&A’s before, you will know that Brett ensures the environment is inclusive and very relaxed.  We hope that this makes everyone feel comfortable and confident to ask any questions that they may have…there really is no such thing as a stupid question!

So why should you make sure you are watching next Tuesday evening?  Well…these events are fun, informative and give you a unique opportunity to ask someone with a lot of MS knowledge questions that are important to you.  We hope that you enjoy these experiences as much as we do and we can’t wait to go live again next week!  We hope to see you all online then!
