MStranslate October 19, 2015 Lifestyle, Research 4 Comments In 2013, the team from Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis (OMS) published a paper as part of the HOLISM research study in the International Journal of Neuroscience. This study showed that the consumption of flaxseed oil by people with multiple sclerosis (MS) resulted in a reduction in relapse rate, whereas fish oil gave no such benefits. These findings gained further support from a new study that was presented at the 2015 ECTRIMS Congress in Barcelona, Spain. This research investigated the link between fatty acid consumption and developing MS. It found that consumption of plant-based polyunsatured fatty acids led to a decreased risk of MS, however, the same decrease was not observed from fatty acids derived from fish. In combination, these results provide evidence for further research to be conducted into the benefits of flaxseed oil for people with MS. More information on this article and previous work in the area can be found by visiting the OMS website here. 4 Responses Fr.
